Ladybird, Ladybird
I'm not sure what the poor ladybird in the rhyme had done to deserve such horrors to be heaped on her family. This little beauty was out and about in our garden today. I think it had fairly recently emerged from its pupa as it was a beautifully shiny red, it was having trouble with its wings which made me wonder if perhaps they weren't fully dried out.
The extra is of the flowers on my bronze fennel, the flowers are positively alive with wasps in the sunshine. I presume the yellow colour had attracted them.
I went back up Clermiston Hill today and checked our the salmon berries. They have an initially faint slightly perfumed taste, but then left quite a strong aftertaste which wasn't particularly pleasant. I'm not sure I'll be rushing to collect them.
