Die Back at Dawn
Looking towards home this morning on the dog walk, the sky turned pink, five minutes later the sun rose a vivid red for all of 30 seconds before the cloud thickened. It has been raining pretty much since then.
The tree seen leaning over the track from the left is an Ash Tree, which puts me in mind of the awful disease Ash Die Back. There have been recording of die back within a few miles of here, so whilst this tree is not yet suffering, it is probably only a matter of time.
On the other side of the track in the hedge is the most wonderful line of oak and ash trees, twelve of each. in my garden - and the surrounding copse there are six majestic ash trees and numerous smaller ones.
The landscape is certainly set to change dramatically - and for the worse.
Even more worser still I will not be able to forecast the summer weather as I walk along the line of trees.
Beech before Oak - summer a soak
Oak before Beech - summer a peach
It just doesn't sound right, and not sure it would work.
