St. James's Park: Pigeon Pal
More good-natured in large.
A day of contrasts...
"[O]ne touch of nature that makes the whole world kin"
Tourists feeding fauna again: this time it wasn't prawn cocktail crisps to a gosling, but Belgian waffle to a swan... Gawd.
My blipped interaction was a tourist feeding pigeons seeds which was a relief; mutual benefit... They were mad for them, and certainly piled on to her.
"Nature red in tooth and claw"
I also witnesses moorhenling murder... I spotted an adult moorhen pecking a chick on the pathway; a tourist chased off the adult, only for a waiting crow to have a go. The chick managed to limp away, but the adult moorhen attacked afresh. A mallard intervened when the rails ran into it, but the moorhen continued and killed the chick, leaving it limply floating on the water, where coots pecked at it half-heartedly. Not nice...
Also returned home to find a beautiful shield bug in a spider's web; I macro and flashed it to bring out its carapace colours, but that did little to lighten the scene.
Others here (or right from Solitary Ross's goose).
