Alarm call

The place we stayed at before and after the weekend's ride is a college which does some sort of animal husbandry, so they have a number of peacocks and other unknown specimens (behind a fence and hedge) which were very vocal during daylight hours, which of course are many at this time of year.  No chance that these students get much of a lie-in.  I usually take ear plugs to this sort of thing because it tends to involve lots of snoring people on mats in a sports hall, but I had a single room this time so foolishly thought they wouldn't be needed.
