The neighborhood network thing I signed up for a few weeks ago, seemed like a good idea. Our neighborhood spans a ten by twelve block area but other than our immediate block there has never been an organized effort to communicate about matters that affect us directly. Last week, someone lost a cat and because they posted it on the network , the cat was found the same day. Today, they posted about how slippery the roads are. I now know that several people are looking for a dog walker and a cat sitter and an infant daycare person. It's very helpful, except when everyone and their mother starts responding with things like: why yes, the roads are indeed slippery and 'I don't know of a dog sitter'. If this is just some miniature version of Facebook, I'm not going to last very long or I'll have to start "muting" people. Argggh.
