Diary of an Edinburgher

Deep disappointment

Isobel took Archie out round the Hermitage. She seems to have such good fun with him - he makes her laugh all the time. Like when he just stops walking and won’t move, just because he's got a wee twig stuck in his hairy leg, or how he just stands for ages up to his armpits in the river doing nothing. Today he had a run around with a couple of lurchers.

JR did her usual busy gym session morning then her executive housekeeping. She was quite happy to relax and browse bathroom accessories etc, but I thought going over for a beer, via the Links, would be a good idea. Also, I’d been told that there were fresh peas at one of the shops...

JR had ulterior motives too, as she'd spied a couple of items of clothing that she thought I might like/needed. I had to have a look before we had a beer. (No, I didn’t need them).

While we were in Montpeliers, the staff were taking photos and came to ask if they could take one of Archie too. He posed nicely.

I bought a big bag of peas. Then I added some more. They looked freshly picked. I couldn’t wait to get home and munch my way through them, and so I started them as I walked over the Links. Oh no! They were 'orrible! Not sweet at all, and tasted like old hard supermarket ones. Though Archie was still keen. I did try a few more when I got home, but had to abandon them.

Deeply, deeply disappointed. Though I won’t be doing any pea picking any time soon.
