One Crowded Hour

knights in white satin...

...and what a day we all had.

Up and at the train station by 8 am (what? with a 12 year old to rouse from his slumber?) to catch the train and then a bus to Caboolture and the annual Abbey Medieval event.
We just missed the knights and their entourages clanking on board an earlier 'steam horse' but did sit close to a dude  junior reckoned was a Jedi Master judging by his conversations re all things Star Wars with his traveling buddy (boringly in jeans and a backpack).

This is serious stuff with blacksmiths forging swords and armour, archers toting quivers of sharp arrows, Renaissance fencers doffing velveteen hats and bowing and with perfect manners, boisterous Vikings, jousters (extra),  and families in various stages of enthusiasm (extra).

Junior headed home with a wooden broad sword and frog with which to attach to a belt and a desire to go in costume next year....yikes!
