Brookweed

Up on the limestone east of Lincoln today, starting with a long and rather prickly walk round the species-rich road verges and arable fields of Potterhanworth Heath, where I re-found several Greater Broomrape plants, before retreating to a shadier plantation woodland west of Metheringham - not as interesting botanically but a much nicer place to be in the intense heat.

The heat had slowed down Pete and Chris's survey so I spent some time pottering around the Dunston springs while I was waiting for them to finish. I found some more very local wetland plants, as well as quite a lot of Brookweed, a damp-loving member of the Primrose family that has a predominantly coastal distribution, but is also found inland around springs, seepages and ditches on calcareous soils.
