Come Fly With Me
Come fly with me, let's float down to Peru
In llama land there's a one-man band
And he'll toot his flute for you
Come fly with me, let's take off in the blue - Frank Sinatra, 1958
After my very long nap yesterday, I still managed almost 9 hours of sleep last night. Guess my body knew just what I needed because I feel so much better today.
The weather has been crazy - brilliant sunshine one minute and torrents of rain the next. Definitely a good day to stay close to home so that I can dart in when it rains. And no hardship since the garden is positively alive with creatures, including lots of hummers. This male is still in his finest plumage and I liked the way the light caught his ruby-red gorget in this shot. I also got some shots of a juvenile male, sporting just two bright red feathers on his neck. Click HERE to have a look.
Things in the Monarch Nursery are coming along nicely and if all continues on schedule, I'll be doing my first releases in mid to late August. Please contact me either via email (see bio) or comment if there is someone for whom you'd like me to dedicate a monarch release. My goal is the same as last year - to send each butterfly on its way in memory of someone who has left this mortal world. And if you'd like to see a couple of the growing caterpillars, click HERE.
I spent some time with MIL at lunch today and found her to be in very good spirits today. She's still not really eating much of anything, but the therapist said she is doing well with both PT and OT, so that's good. Hoping to get her out of the wheelchair and back to a walker this week. At least she's getting her spunk back - being very sassy with everyone.
Thank you for stopping by.
