Greenfinch - Bare Branches
It was lovely to have the company of my son on my walk with Ollie dog this morning. We enjoyed showing him our haunts. This male greenfinch was singing its wheezing song from the top of one of our ash trees. Sadly this one is affected by ash dieback, a fungal disease that is sweeping Europe.
There's an unaffected ash tree just outside our property which has shed a huge branch for no apparent reason. Ashes are known for this. Old locals call them weed trees.
Our daughter and granddaughter visited this afternoon and we spent a pleasant time helping our granddaughter to collate everything that she wanted to include in her personal statement for dental school application.
