Tomb raiders

This sits at the back of the mausoleum at Duff House in Banff. The Duff family, not having a lengthy ancestry among the nobility, attempted to make up for that by "adopting" older monuments. They did this with a 16th century tomb from our kirk in Cullen, and that one was only returned to its rightful place in 1965.

The tomb shown here was apparently said to belong to Robert the Bruce(!), but is actually that of Provost Douglas of Banff (removed from the Old Church of St. Mary's).
