2018 Saturday — Favorite Today

This evening when all of today’s photos tumbled into place before me, this one of Morro Rock climbed to the top position of “favorite.” We were driving south out of Cayucos at 11:00 a.m. and about to climb the curve into the city of Morro Bay.

Surely I post too many of this regional landmark, but it is the focal point of the entire area. If it is not shrouded in fog, it is the first thing I see in the morning as I look out my bedroom window.

All throughout the day it entertains all who turn to view it as it creates its own climate. Most days clouds of moisture flirt with it; sometimes becoming its hat; sometimes its shawl; occasionally its wispy boa; and often its complete cloak.

Today we drove to Morro Bay where I got lots of shots of boats moored in the back bay. We arrived there just as the tide was changing; the tide was very low with the pointy end of each boat (the bow) facing away from the harbor’s entrance. As the current changed each boat gradually turned so its stern (the back of the boat) was away from the harbor’s entrance. The bow always faces the current, whether it is incoming or outgoing. And Morro Rock is there at the harbor’s threshold to the sea.
