Out of reach
The berries are starting to ripen fast now. Of course, these gems are way up at the top of the sticker-y bushes and I would not be able to reach them even if I was dressed properly.
This park (where the blackberries run rampant) is pretty busy. Today, they had a 5k Dog Days of Summer fun run, a juried craft fair in Hangar 30 (I stopped by was not impressed with the wares unfortunately - "white bread" is the only description I could come up with), and I saw folks constructing a fairly large stage for some kind of concert. Hard to believe that it used to be a naval air base, and before that, just acres of wetlands, probably treasured by the indigenous peoples.
Finished the day with a BBQ at my sister's house over at her house in Alki (they live just steps from the beach there). The whole place was overrun with people, enjoying the beach and a great sunset. Next month, there is going to be a big music festival which is expected to bring in 40,000 people! Holy moly. Is going to be really and truly insane and I feel for my sis.
