Not how we planned it
Today has been the scariest of my life. We were involved in a nasty RTC only ten minutes from home and had to be cut from our vehicle due to landing upside down in a ditch. We both are so grateful that some one was looking down on us today- it could have been so very different. The NHS have been amazing alongside the emergency services. We were lucky that the first on the scene was a retired firefighter, I'm not sure what I would've done without him.
We were transferred from lincoln to the QMC major trauna unit, I, with three broken ribs, bruised lungs, damaged ankle and severe bruising caused by my seatbelt and The Other-half with three broken ribs, a fractured sternum, a punctured lung and deep laceration to his knee and elbow.
We are now both settled on the same ward with only a wall separating us. We finally chatted and assessed our situation.
A devastating day but a day to be so very grateful for.
