Creake Abbey

Ruined since 1506 after the devastating plague, came into being around 1206 initally as The Hospital of St Bartholomew.

The site is now maintained by English Heritage, free entry "at any reasonable time". Harsh lighting from a very high sun made for unfriendly photographic conditions, only one way to go - a polarising filter and conversion to black and white.
