The Last
We went through to Arbroath today to see if we could get a shot of the War Memorial but when we arrived the service had started and we didn't like to intrude.
Later we went for our usual Sunday walk down the bridle path where I took the opportunity to capture a shot of the last of the straw bales in the field.I hope they get them in before the weather turns much colder.
Later this afternoon I took the chance to research my grandfather's war service during WW1.He was in the 1st Battalion Gordon Highlanders. Why the Gordon's I don't know as he was a mining engineer born in Lanarkshire. I can only assume the Gordon's were anxious to get more new recruits as they had suffered heavy losses in France at the beginning of WW1.
He thankfully survived the war despite being gassed in the trenches and rose to the rank of Corporal.
