Heading east
Today we left Peterborough about 8.30 and travelled to Wilcannia where we have a lovely spot on the Darling river. We came about 480km and arrived in time for me to wander down to the river.
I rarely see interesting birds but this one and his female companion were sitting in the grass. I’m not sure what they are..... there are also kangaroos and a resident emu. I saw an emu in the “ main” street of Wilcannia which used to be the third biggest port in Australia ( inland paddlesteamers).
On the first part of the drive there were thousands of kangaroos, in huge mobs. I have never seen so many. We also saw a lot of dead ones on the side of the road, one every 50m or so. Yuck. The owners here have a camp fire and happy hour so I’m off to join them...cheerio.
