One in a million

Best viewed *larger*

Literally this starling is one in a million. Even though the flock here is in thousands, he/she will get together with a larger flock each dusk to roost somewhere. They were back in their numbers today... I guess it's starling blips from me for the rest of late autumn & winter now! But I can't help it, esp when the sun hits them against the blue sky, they look like something from out of this world! You cannot beat a starling...!

But then you cannot beat a robin either:

Quiet corner

This time last year my mummy was diagnosed with secondary bone cancer which was caused by the cancer in her left lung. This date started her 6 month ordeal with the deadly disease. Like most women her age, she did smoke back in the 60s & 70s but gave it up (like most women then!), but it made no difference. I think of her & love her daily & I feel her by my side constantly. It doesn't take away the pain though of losing her, nor watching her grow old, something I'll never get to do now, but then, I don't think she would have coped, she was always so beautifully turned out, not make up, but clothes, for a little person, she was so elegant & wore the nicest clothes, which still hang in her wardrobe & at the moment I can't bare to part with them. Her own dressing room has turned into a shrine. It's as she left it/ Even the last newspaper she read, dated 14th May 2012. It may sound a little disturbing. But the room is still hers & I can feel her still there.
