Camping and festivities

Many years ago I knew a woman who worked in a castle. It was magical and mystical, and all the things you’d expect of something like a castle. In real life it was an international college that had an outdoor swimming pool and functioning lifeboat station. One day I went to visit, and though the day was just a day, it was also not just a day. It was one day in a three day storytelling festival. Now you may wonder what makes a storytelling festival so. Well, it’s full of stories. Not just stories read aloud to children, or made up just for kids. Storytelling is so much bigger, so much more. That is the reason I’m standing in a field some years later, with a tent surrounded by the loveliest, weirdest, wonderfulest of stories. Many of which should never be uttered around the youngest of ears.
