Coot and chick

I saw the coot chicks yesterday on my lunchtime walk. Quite by chance, I spotted the bright colours - so unusual for such young birds. My iPhone was inadequate for photographing them.

Back I went today with the ‘proper’ camera and a zoom lens. At first, the chicks were nowhere to be seen. I needed to be patient. About 20 minutes later, one appeared.
