End to end
First meeting started at 8.20am.
Last meeting ended at 11.30pm.
I helped a friend early doors by witnessing a meeting for a difficult work situation. It was at a primary school and the entire education system is at breaking point, especially for schools with catchments where lots of the kids have issues.
After a sweaty cycle back across town I cracked on with a proposal which gave a good feeling of productivity by the end of the day. I broke for a speedy lunch outside with Hannah and we spotted this long row of foreign exchange students all clutching paper bags from Aromi, an Italian food place in Cambridge. Around the corner a lively group called Sabre Education, which partners with Ghanaian schools, was drumming away and encouraging passersby to join in.
In the evening a long four-hour meeting at Sue's, one of the trustees of our volunteer group. Sue is just to the west of Cambridge in the village of Coton, and the cycle path out there is tranquil (except the bit that bridges the M11). The meeting was more dynamic than our usual, helped by a relaxing setting in Sue's garden, big candles and a huge bowl of cherries. Cycling home as midnight approached was haunting, and despite the packed day, I felt energised by what had been achieved.
