Darting about

So today I've been darting about looking for 'lines' for BobsBlips WidWed challenge.  Lines, of course, don't need to be straight to remain lines, but quite a lot of these are - except for the giant dartboard in the middle.  Known as 'King Arthur's Round Table', it was in fact painted up on the orders of Henry VIII in the 16th century.  That doesn't stop it being fab tourist fodder, and even I have to admit it looks rather grand in The Great Hall at Winchester. 

In case you might be interested, the Great Hall was part of William the Conqueror's palace.  It's built on a vast mound of earth put there by the Romans at the time of Vespasian to house a sizable fort.  That will keep them quiet, Vespasian/William thought, and they were right!

The rest of the Norman castle has been replaced by bogus-castle-like Council Offices (you can see a pattern here, can't you).  The Hall itself is a slight embarrassment because nobody knows quite what to do with it, but we love it, even though we suddenly have to pay £3 to go inside.

And to prove we love it, the staff member (note badge on shirt, but is he, in fact, staff of somewhere else?) was the only person in there actually to be looking at the place with his eyes, not through a phone or camera.  And that of course includes me!
