Checkpoint Charlie
Some challenging behaviour overnight, sadly 3 out of 29 of the kids will now fail DofE but may well also find themselves permanently excluded from school.
The rest of the groups were in surprisingly good spirits however and so we set off. This expedition has been through the very edges of wild country, where farm meets village meets park meets open access land. So whilst it's seemed easy at times there have been far far too many paths, and some public rights of way have been blocked by some unhappy farmers.
Whilst the other support workers mostly went to checkpoints I tried to make sure I 'bumped' into the groups at those points I thought they'd get lost, it seemed to work, and even when they took the wrong path I could usually see them.
And... No-one fell in the canal. That's always a plus.
