View of Zurich
Zurich is a lovely town, but in a rather scattered way. One can only capture it in various partial views; I hope this serves. We're looking south along the Limmat, the river which flows north through the heart of the city from Lake Zurich or Zürichsee, which ends out of sight in the background, extending 25 miles (40 km) to the southeast. The churches are the Fraumünster (on the left) and St. Peter's.
Earlier in the day we took a train to the town of Winterthur (30 minutes north) to see an exhibition on Ferdinand Hodler (1853-1918) and Alberto Giacometti (1901-1966). They are the two greatest Swiss artists of the last 150 years, and it was interesting to see their works juxtaposed, even if the show's concept seemed a bit forced.
