Cosmos

Back into Bantry for another literary offering this afternoon. The venue was the National Learning Network  and fortunately it stopped drizzling for it was outside in a rather amazing amphitheatre that I didn't know was there. Tough on the bum and back (concrete) but two extremely interesting authors. See extra for them just going through last minute notes!  Richard Beard and Allan Jenkins were in conversation with Sue Leonard. Both books sound heart-breaking. Richard wrote about the death of his younger brother in The Day that Went Missing. He drowned and basically the family never ever spoke about it. 40 years later Richard started to unravel and wondered why. Allan and his little brother were Barnardos children ,later adopted and in his book Plot 29 he describes how his allotment gave him the space to come to terms with a difficult childhood. It was refreshing to see two men, both brought up in the 60s and 70s, talk about how important it is to recognise emotions and let them out. My blip is of a window behind the speakers and you can see the slightly wobbly but good crowd assembled and some rather lovely cosmos. More books purchased. The only bad bit, I were sitting on my cardie to protect my bum, and left it there (Himself says I've been watching too much Poldark! - read that sentence again, with Cornish accent). The The Mermaid and Mrs Hancock,  so far very entertaining,
