Power

Very much work to do this morning.  And as the thunder and lightning raged outside, it seemed like a good time to be in the office.  Until the power flicked off.  Just for a few seconds, but with a desktop that is not great.  So I worked on the laptop for a while (tiny screen - hard for editing) and, when all seemed calm, put the big computer back on.

Just as it flicked off for the second time a thought hit me...  Didn't I have plans to get a UPS to avoid these problems and, in fact, didn't I buy one?  Oh yes, that'll be the big box sitting in the doorway that I'd forgotten about....

So, with that beast (it is massively heavy) plugged in, I had time to save files and power down properly in the next big power cut but, for the little ones, the battery just clicked in and all was well.  Very satisfactory.

Later, kebabs, Infinite Monkey Cage and a very long and surprisingly animated debate amongst the four of us about whether strawberries are alive.
