Water Lily, Shine Your Light

I don't work at home on Mondays anymore. There are pluses and minuses with this, but it's an item I don't have any control over. Work unit changes, you know. But one of the pluses is that I am out and about on Monday mornings now, and I sometimes get to visit the Arboretum during that time slot. That's a happy thing!

The light was fabulous on this morning, and the lily pond was spectacular. There were several colors of lilies in full bloom, and a huge dragonfly kept showing up and then disappearing. I had stopped by the lily pond for pictures, but another photographer was there, so I scooted out of his way and photographed something else for a few minutes.

But then I came back and snagged some more shots, and spent some quality time with a male twelve-spotted skimmer. The photo above turned out best, as far as light goes; the lily itself seemed lit by a light from within, and how glorious was its shine!

But also, please take a look at the dragonfly photo in the extras. The dragon was very placid at that point, and it sat quietly, and allowed me to move about trying various backgrounds for my shots. Yes, that's a white water lily off to the right. I do love the combo of dragons and lilies!

The song to accompany this sun-infused scene is Sugarland, with Shine the Light.
