Wallace Monument, Scottish Borders

I'd never been to see this monument until today.

En route to give a training course at a hotel in nearby St Boswells, I was a little early so took a detour up to this point to see what the views were like: spectacular!

But it was the statue which fascinated me. An early 1800s representation of William Wallace which highlights the fact that we don't really know what he looked like, so we had artistic licence. I think he looks like a Greek god here.
