Sipping

Beautiful to see this female green-veined white on the geraniums this afternoon and lucky as I'd tons of work to do!

The caterpillar does no harm to the garden as it feeds on watercress and garlic mustard and is usually found in damp meadows, bogs and forestry rides. The chrysalis sees through the winter amongst dense vegetation, very well camouflaged  and in most years especially down south there are two or sometimes even three broods, making it fairly common.

It derives it's name from the green veins on it's underwing which distinguishes it from the small whites.
