Garden tour of Sandon Hall

There is a huge project at the moment to restore the 80 acres of gardens at Sandon Hall to their former glory.

The brilliant young gardener has been there a couple of years and he’s already achieved so much. He recognises and values the fact that some of their giant trees were planted well over 100 years ago, and he plans ahead for designs that will not be at their height until well after his lifetime. He shared the designs (extra) and talked us through what they have done and why.

The Amphitheatre section involved huge quantities of imported topsoil and heavy equipment.

It was wonderful weather and there was so much to see. This was the Summer Tour. They are doing one for each season and a couple who had been on the tour in the snow were amazed at what has been achieved.

I’m hooked. I’ll be back to see the next stages.

But I still got home in time for the sport, sadly to see my favourite Tour de France rider crash and then continue with great courage....
