Near miss

We’ve been having a World Cup penalty shoot out competition in the office for the last few weeks.

You had to enter a team of 3, got allocated a team (we had the honour of representing the mighty Egypt), and then played a group stage before the best teams progressed to the knockouts. Each game involving the teams taking turns to take three penalties each, using a foam ball and a tiny child sized goal.

We’ve done well, and today we were in the semifinals.

Despite taking an early lead through me (a rocket shot penalty in the top corner- my first goal of the tournament, which I barely resisted celebrating with a victory lap of the whole building) we were pegged back and ultimately lost by a single goal.

Let’s hope that isn’t an omen for tomorrow.
