What a lovely day we had!
This morning I made a few preparations ahead of Anne and Jill coming this afternoon. They went to Vindolanda, then phoned me after lunch to say that they were ready for me to pick them up.
By then it was pouring at Vindolanda, but still fine here. I'm glad to say that the rain did come to us and was enough to do more than mock the garden with a few droplets.
Anne has knee trouble, which is why they had to bail out of the Pennine Way. Arth and Aggie were very sympathetic and let Anne sit on their special recliner chair all afternoon. We chatted and watched the tennis. The first semi-final seemed never ending. We stopped for our meal and then returned to watch to the bitter end. (You will be relieved to hear that this was not a culinary disaster - the salmon in yoghurt and peppers with a crunchy topping was delicious.)
Anne and Jill posed together in the garden for my blip, before I took them to Twice Brewed, where they stay tonight, returning to the deep south tomorrow.
Back home and another semi-final. No possibility of doing the dishes until this was taken off court at 11pm. I'm a bit tired now!
PS We have both now seen Daisy as well as Oscar. She seemed very hungry when she came to feed tonight. Will they ever want to come into the house again? Watch this space.
