reflections

Looking back on the past few days and the violence - it reminded me of how far we have come. So often we look at the other side - how far we fall short. We will always have room to grow, but if we consistently beat ourselves up and challenge others based only on the road still to travel, we will diminish the journey to date. Of course we need to name and challenge evil and wrongdoing, so I am not saying that we have no work to do. My point is one of balance. It is, rather, to give others, and ourselves acknowledgement of our journey and what it has cost to come to where we are now - a much more peaceful society.  It is always better to shine light than complain about the dark.
