Sarah's view
Different parts of the house and garden elicit thoughts of each of our absent grownup children, who spent most of their young lives here. Everywhere is alive with precious memories, which is why it will be hard to leave one day.
When I'm gardening I always feel close to Sarah, as she spent many hours with me, weeding, planting and pruning. I'm pleased that the garden is looking at its best just now as she is coming home for the weekend. She will be able to join in with the jam-making and also to pick and eat the apricots which are about to ripen in the greenhouse. We will have broad beans and peas to eat for dinner, too. She has promised to help D cut the Virginia Creeper (a job which none of us really enjoy as it involves going up really high on a ladder) and after that she will have deserved to sit and relax in the shade and enjoy the flowers (she's deserved that already as she is working right up until Friday night and then leaving London at a very early hour on Saturday to reach Dumfries at 10.30am..
See you soon, Sarah!
