Goldfinches....

were enjoying the seeds on these Melancholy Thistles. Young Jays, Meadow Pipits, Kestrels and Buzzards were in evidence throughout this walk. There had been overnight rain and it continued with a smrr most of the day, but was warm too so pleasant for walking. Never seen this area so dry. It usually involves several burns crossings and bogs, but today there was nothing!
