Xena

Jen was heading home this morning, so I dropped her off at the station on my way to work.  Then at lunch time I met Anne and we walked down to the beach for an hour,.

Tonight Xena came for dinner. She got the bus to Saltdean and I picked her up from the bus stop at 8pm.  She’s such a lovely girl and brought us some Belgian chocolates which was very sweet of her.  We’ve had a great night talking about Belgium and I showed her my very first Blip book which was when we lived there and my journal name was Life in Belgium.  I read out to her my Blip entry from last Wednesday when she had walked into the surgery, and she agreed I could take her photo for today’s blip.

After dinner I asked her if she’d like a coffee, but she said she doesn’t drink coffee, so I offered her a cup of tea which she said she’d have.  However,  when she saw we weren’t having one, she said she was just being polite as she thought I was making one for all of us.  I told her she didn’t need to drink it, but she did and she said she enjoyed it. I made her tea on this Union Jack mug, which ironically I bought in Belgium from the English shop where I used to work.  When she finished her tea I washed the mug and then gave it to her as a souvenir.  It says ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ which is really quite appropriate after all she’s been through.

Anyway, she seems much happier than she did when I last saw her which is good. We gave her a tour of our house, including the Palace, and showed her, her bedroom should she choose to come and stay next year and have connected on Facebook so we can stay in touch. She heads back to Belgium on Saturday and we’re going to try and meet up again one lunch time before she leaves.

It’s now midnight and we’ve just got back from dropping her back to the residence and I’m on the early shift tomorrow so am off to bed as I need to be up at 6.30am. Night night!
