Upton House
We planned to go to Compton Verney this morning. Unfortunately when we arrived we found it was closed on Mondays. So we continued down the Banbury Road to the National Trust property, Upton House. Coffee and lunch later we felt revived enough for a wander round the gardens. The main garden drops away from the lawn on a steep hill that has been terraced with pathways on each level.
The picture shows the border of lavender along the top terrace. The state of the grass on the terrace is evidence of the heatwave we're currently experiencing.
