mine...all mine

lively day..a game of two halfs. first half was brilliant..excellent..second half was a more tactical cagey affair, but thats another story.. lets big up the first half went to something unpronounceable slate mine..loved it pure and simple , the drive out was amazing , again the grim weather just added to the moody , dark, tempestuous feel of the place. Went for the full monty tour, thats the deep mine tour and the tram tour, thought they both were brill, informative interesting, well narrated and presented...just a real experience. It gave a true feel of what it was as a boy/man to work down these hell holes..tough proud people, I think if maggie had seen first hand these mines and the communities that they served she`d might have come up with different conclusions, The tram tour was an attack of the senses, bumpy claustrophobic little carriages that bounce along the tracks , the wheels "sing" and whine when a corner is negotiated, it belts along like a hyperactive centipede crossed with a mole, the guard sits on the very rear of the tram on a jockey seat.. looked well funny perched on the back eating his sarnies as he whizzed past.
The evening was spent firstly over the pub with Mr Miagi ..aka marc "the tank" grainger.. this is a man mountain..ex para.. when he says jump ,, you say how high... also trained in aikido and demonstrate dthis on the bar manager.. just by way of conversation LOLOL.. could see the guy visibly shaking !!! marc is a damn fine chap, bar manager worked this out pretty quickly after first filling his underwear and hence come up with the name MR miagi and he called me danialson...fair dos !! so that names stuck with marc now.
this evening was spent doing halloween stuff .. things really did go bump in the nite from thereafter !! but thats a different story
