Low Newton

Mrs P and I took a long walk from North Sunderland (Seahouses) along the coastal path through Beadnell to Low Newton-by-the-Sea. It was quite misty at first but the sun broke through eventually.

Highlights of the day were crab sandwiches for lunch, bought at a stand in Beadnell beach car park, and seeing terns feeding chicks at Long Nanny reserve. We didn't have a close view of the rare Little Terms, except through a ranger's telescope, but some of the more numerous Arctic Terns were nesting right outside the rangers' hut. The effort to protect the Little Terns is heroic - the video at https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/embleton-and-newton-links/features/the-long-nanny-little-tern-site is worth a look.

Low Newton has an excellent pub, brewing their own beer, which we enjoyed before the short walk to High Newton for a bus back to North Sunderland.
