The things you do to try and get old cars through their MOT.  Mine failed spectacularly with a broken spring and a handbrake that was more hand than brake, and one of the additional advisories was the rather opaque headlight covers.  Found a useful tip on the web - toothpaste and bicarbonate of soda - works a treat.  M is currently emptying an inch or so of water out of his headlights and doing one or two other jobs - fingers crossed for tomorrow though I suspect the rusty hole may let him down.
