Trying to reproduce an effect last seen in the walled garden at the office.  A Paul's himalayan musk climbing rose to go up through a tree so that the tree appears to be flowering.  4 inches down the soil becomes 20% clay, 50% ex-airfield concrete and 30% historic farmyard metalwork, but the sycamore seems to have managed, so the rose might.
