Cat at Tesco

What local scene will I blip today, taken on a dull cloudy morning or the bight sunny afternoon?
A tumble of grey and brown Stromness houses with the outline of the Hoy Hills behind ..
The clear blues and summer greens of the Orkney landscape ..
The dull red stone of the ancient cathedral or the bright red and white of the Italian chapel ..
Tall standing stones at Stenness or Brodgar; a mysterious mound covering a cairned tomb ..
Ferries, fishing boats or sailing craft with their tall masts reflected in the calm harbour waters  ..
Figures in black shiny suits diving on World War wrecks near a Barrier of giant concrete blocks .. ?
No .. today it’s the Tesco cat.


Nearly everyone in Orkney will have been to Tesco in Kirkwall and so most will know this little cat sitting or snoozing on the warm heap of compost bags under the canopy near the trolleys.
