Female Widow Skimmer

Another gorgeous day, so I spent time rambling around in the tall grasses chasing more dragonflies. This one caught my eye, as it seemed to fly more slowly than most of the others, & when I got home and looked it up, it said the female widow skimmer is "large and slow, making it easier to spot". It also said it's known as a "widow" skimmer because after mating,  the male leaves her by herself, "widowing" her as she lays her eggs just under the surface of the water. I've put another one of her in the extras, as her wings show so beautifully there. The second extra is a female 12 spotted skimmer.
When I got home, Mae asked to go to the park, so we walked on over (it's only a 5 minute walk from our house). She bee-lined for the large children's swing, & after pushing her non-stop for 30 minutes (that's NOT an exaggeration), I asked if she was ready to get out. She looked at me with this angelic smile, her eyes half-way closed, and said:  "Grandma, I relaxing"! Well, I couldn't fault her, as I love a good rocker, glider, or even a hammock, & who wouldn't love to relax like that?  So I continued to push the swing.......for another 20 minutes....when I heard:  "Grandma, I get out and slide"?  So off to the slide we went. Tom says he wouldn't have the patience to do that, but as you get older you realize how quickly time flies---they're only little for such a short time. Besides, what could possibly be more fun than playing with your grandchild?       :)))
