Skylon
Not the best pic but my first using the panorama setting on the iPhone 5. Today after a long but successful debrief in the morning, followed by a load of meetings, I took some of my clients out for dinner.
We went to Skylon, a swanky restaurant in the Royal Festival Hall on the South bank with fab views of the Thames, which is supposed to be the subject of the picture above. Unfortunately the restaurant lights were a little too much on the glass so you can't see the river very well but it's there, I promise. The Panorama setting was quite easy to use but if rushed it causes lines down the image. It also goes for a full 180 degrees, hence the capture of the restaurant interior too.
Camera phone fun aside, it was a nice evening with 5 clients and 3 colleagues. The restaurant staff were very attentive. They swapped my seat for an extra padded one and got me a big cushion for my back. They were really lovely.
The food was good too, though I was a little limited by what I can and cannot eat. In the end I went for a turnip soup to start, which randomly had prawns in (!) followed by Duck breast as a main. It was cooked beautifully. I also had an amazing chocolate dessert that melted in my mouth. One of my clients had to leave early to get home to his wife and 3.5 month old, so I had his sorbet too :)
By 10pm I was really flagging, despite everyone else still going at full steam (no doubt powered by the 8 or so bottles of expensive wine they got through) and by 10:45pm I was texting my colleague and neighbour Tim, who was sat at the other end of the table, to ask if he wanted to share a cab. In the end I paid the bill at just after 11pm when I could've cried for how much my back hurt!
We were straight into a taxi and home before 12. I have another dinner planned for next Wed with a different set of clients (we're into the socialising season afterall!) but think I'm going to give myself a leaving time of about 9pm. I'm too old and too pregnant for all this, even if it is all expenses paid.
