Matariki is the Maori name for the Pleiades cluster of stars which come into view for us at this time of year. So Matariki signals the start of the Maori New Year. Increasingly many of us in New Zealand are celebrating this occasion.The Art exhibition opening was also night and tonight we had four wonderful women singers of Maori descent. Grace de Lautour, Teia Kennedy, Juliet McLean and Renny Millner all had beautiful voices and it was a top gig.
