Flower Friday

Another sunny and hot day, the garden is full of flowers and creatures.
I’ve turned one raised bed in my garden into a wildflower area and it’s doing quite well : some flowers have grown from seed and others l’ve bought as plants and transplanted them.
I’ve planted three different poppies in the hope they will self seed for next year, never been successful before but l can try.
Do have a back up plan this year though as blippers evolybab and freespiral are going to send me some seeds at the end of the season.
One poppy l can grow is the Californian variety and it was very
popular with the wasps and bees today.
Sorry Anni it’s been difficult to get any flower shot without including little visitors.
Lots of my lilies, roses and other flowers are covered in tiny black beetle like insects, a result of this heatwave, they do no harm to the flowers or humans so lm leaving them be.

This afternoon we went to Verity and Kitty’s sports day.
Families took chairs, rugs and picnics and spent the afternoon cheering the children on.
Verity won the high jump for the second year running and also came first in the 200 metres.
I’ve done an extra shot of her with her trophies.
Kitty was in three events and came second every time.
