Morning walk

I went earlier today to enjoy the morning light and coolness. On the way back from the park my mom said, "I wouldn't want to live here in the summer. It gets too hot." So back to air-conditioned Silverado we went, but then immediately went outside to the lovely courtyard.

I read this in a book I'm really enjoying--The Overstory, by Richard Powers: "... they didn't need to go far to be in the thick of all she loves. Out into the rot, the decay, the snags, the luxuriant, prolific dying all around them, where a terrible green rises, riding forth in all directions with its converting coils."

As you recall from earlier posts, my mother feels just the opposite. She would like nothing more than to clean Cornwall Park from top to bottom, removing every dead and down thing.
