Very French

Our last day in the champagne region and we left our hotel in the champagne growers domain after breakfast. Yesterday, in the morning we had a two hour tour of the cellars and a very interesting and informative talk on how they produce their champagne. They make 60,000 bottles a year and it is sold mainly to restaurants and individuals. Like many of the smaller champagne producers they sell a proportion of their grapes each harvest to the big houses such as Moet et Chandon. After the tour we had a degustation of their premier cru champagne.

This morning we paid a short visit to Hautvillars where Dom Peringnan, the first person to produce champagne from the Abbey where he lived for 42 years. His tomb is in the local church.
Hautvillars is a beautiful hillside village with cobbled streets and views over the vineyards.

My blip is the outside of a shop we came across and the extra is the interior courtyard.

Now we are sitting on the Eurotunnel train awaiting it's late departure back to England.
