Bald Eagle State Park on the 4th of July

The July 4th afternoon would bring strong thunderstorms that provided some real gully-washers for hours on end. But the morning was clear, and so my husband and I seized the opportunity to go for a much-needed swim at Bald Eagle State Park.

We were on our way well before 9 am, as our online weather predicted thunderstorms by 1 pm. And things weren't too crowded yet when we got there, although I imagine they would become that way later on.

The park was dotted with small groups of people having all kinds of fun. There were cookouts and reunions and boaters and sunbathers and swimmers. Numerous colorful umbrellas popped up on the beach. One lady even brought a pink flamingo floatie, which I thought was awfully cool!
