Those were the days!

Among the photographs and keepsakes from my parents, I have selected a few items to show how times have changed.
The picture on the left is of my parents aged 17, not long after they met. The other is of them on their wedding day, six years later.
The bills - top right, their engagement ring. Diamonds, 18ct gold and platinum cost £6- 6-0. I wear it still, along with the wedding ring, which cost £2 -15-0.
The third bill is for their honeymoon. One weeks board and residence for two, at the princely sum of £5-5-0.
After this, my father went back to sea , and my mother did not see him again for four years, and he had a daughter, me .
